Wednesday, May 17th we will have our final partnership exchange with our Columbia Heights partnership class. We will be going to Theodore Wirth Park on a Wilderness Inquiry where students will be canoeing, hiking, and learning how to cook. It should be a great trip!
Since it will be outside, please make sure your child has on sunscreen and also has a water bottle. In order to prevent loss, you may want to send just a disposable water bottle with your child for the day. Please write their name on it clearly so that we are able to tell them apart. Also, students should have tennis shoes on and comfortable clothing for the weather. Please check the weather that morning or the night before so you know what to prepare for.
Tomorrow our class will be going to the Minneapolis Institute of Art from 1:45-2:45 to see in person the artifacts that we've been studying through art adventures.
Also, a packet went home today that explained a little about the upcoming Minnesota Comprehensive Assessments or MCA's that students will be taking later this month. Feel free to use the pearsons practice site listed to help your student prepare. Any time spent practicing can be recorded on the practice log and turned in for a reward once the page is complete. This is not mandatory, and please note that we will be discussing test taking strategies and practicing while in school.
Here are the days we will be taking the MCA's
Wednesday, April 19th- Reading MCA
Wednesday, April 26th- Math MCA
Can you believe that we are halfway done with 3rd grade! Time really does fly when you're having fun! The last day of the quarter is always hat day at Wilshire Park but since we are halfway to 4th grade lets make the day a little more sweet!
Friday the 27th is "National Chocolate Day" but since we won't be together, bring your favorite chocolate-y snack to school on Thursday! If you're not a fan of chocolate don't worry, you can bring your own favorite snack instead.
Ps. Ms. Gibbs favorite chocolate snack is Reese's peanut butter cups :)

Looking forward here are some important dates to write down.
My name is Emily Gibbs and I am so excited to be your teacher! This will be my third year teaching 3rd grade at Wilshire Park. I can't wait for a new year full of learning, exploring, and most important having FUN!
I went to the University of North Dakota where I graduated with a B.S. degree in Elementary Education and a minor in Special Education. I love getting to know my students and watching them grow as the year goes on! I also love art so any chance I have to add a creative flare to a lesson, I jump on it!
I am a born and raised Minnesota girl and love all things Minnesota! Twins, Timberwolves, Wild, and Vikings Woohoo! I grew up in Mound, MN which is nestled on the western side of Lake Minnetonka. I love boating, fishing, or cruising around the lake whenever I can. What drew me into St. Anthony is the small town feeling you get that is similar to Mound. I love seeing people around town when I'm running errands so don't hesitate to say Hi!
In my free time I love walking my dog Shelby (a miniture Schnauzer) around Silverwood Park, testing out new recipes, and working on diy projects at home. I am also planning a wedding with my fiance Mike for this coming March!
Now that you know a little about me, I'm excited to get to know you!
-Ms. Gibbs :)
